It Lies Within: A Predator Gaming Mini-Series by Acer
Acer's Predator products are synonymous with high-performance gaming. But recently, Acer’s Predator line released a short, three-part mini-series available on YouTube. This live-action mini-series marks an important milestone in the brand’s evolution. Acer’s new series, It Lies Within, accelerates the company towards becoming more than just a hardware producer. It Lies Within tells the story of a young girl with powers beyond even her own comprehension. The three-part series tells the story of the mysteries and ensuing acceptance of those powers.
The story behind It Lies Within
Storytelling is the backbone of all brand communication and Acer’s new web series is no different. From the beginning, the Predator brand has told the story of cutting-edge, stylish, and powerful gaming experiences and through this, it has become a popular choice for gamers around the world.
It Lies Within follows Kya, a young girl with special powers, from birth until her finale as a young woman who learns to utilize her powers to the fullest. Like the protagonist in It Lies Within, the series aims to celebrate the potential power that exists within every Predator machine and the gamers who use them.
Storytelling is important. Stories resonate with all of us and prospective consumers and brand fanatics alike thrive off of the way brands tell stories. While it is a piece of marketing collateral, it’s also a piece of art. The series’ name says it all: It Lies Within. Power, potential, capabilities, and self-belief all exist within Kya, the series’ protagonist, Acer machines, and all of us. From early scenes, you see Kya marked with the Predator logo and fans of the brand will surely notice the connection between the brand and the story’s deeper meaning.
It Lies Within Synopsis
Episode 1: Press Start
The story begins in a hospital with the birth of Kya, a little girl whose cries disrupt the hospital lights. Later that night, the midwife discovers a unique birthmark on the newborn's wrist. At Kya's sixth birthday party, several children are playing tug-of-war when Kya's birthmark begins to glow. She is able to easily win the game of tug-of-war with apparent superpowers. All of the other children fall down.
After the game, one of the party entertainers gives Kya a high-five and a shockwave travels across the room. This makes Kya nervous but the entertainer comforts her with a smile. When it’s time for Kya to blow up the candles on her birthday cake, something strange happens.

Episode 2: Save Point
Kya is now twelve years old. Her birthmark lights up while she is sitting on her bed and concentrating on a deck of cards. Her concentration makes all the cards fly up in the air. As she learns to control the power within, the entire deck begins to organize and float around Kya. The door opens suddenly and Kya levitates the cards to the ceiling. It’s her father who enters and doesn’t seem to notice the cards. When Kya takes her mind off the cards, they fall from the ceiling.
Kya is older now and stops at her locker between classes. Kya is being bullied at school for being different. Her birthmark lights up because of her anger. When a boy comes down the hallway and one of her bullies tries to trip the boy, Kya is forced to use her powers to help the boy. When she stops time to save a stranger, time doesn’t stop for everyone. It turns out Kya isn't alone. To find out what happens, watch Episode 2 here.
Episode 3: Level Up
The episode opens on a busy street in the city. Kya walks with a romantic partner. Their hands connect and they hold hands. The two smile at one another. As the two move together for what seems like their first kiss, Kya’s mark begins to burn bright blue. Their kiss causes an explosion of lights. A passing taxi nearly hits the pair but Kya is able to stop the taxi with her powers. Her romantic interest walks off in shock.
Suddenly, Kya readies herself, hands glowing blue with power, as three hooded villains enter the scene. Kya and one of the hooded figures square off against one another and Kya attacks. As Kya levitates one of the figures into the air, the others emerge from the shadows and begin to remove their hoods, revealing their identities. But, they are not the villains Kya expected. In fact, they are familiar faces. Who are these hooded figures and what do they want from her? Find out in the mini-series finale here.
