Explore Acer Predator's GPU Lineup: Top Choices for Gamers and Creators
GPUs are some of the more complex electronics assemblies available in personal computers, and Acer’s expertise in the computer hardware industry makes it well-placed to take on the competitive market in discrete GPUs. Acer Predator BiFrost is a series of graphics cards launched by Acer in 2022 that currently includes two main variants based on Intel GPU and AMD GPU architectures.
The Predator BiFrost GPU series is aimed primarily at PC gamers. The models in the series feature custom cooling solutions and distinct designs, with some models offering overclocked speeds and other enhancements. The first models in the series were the Predator BiFrost Intel® Arc™ A770 and A750, which use Intel's Arc™ A770 and A750 graphics processors, respectively. Acer also launched Predator BiFrost variants of the Radeon™ RX 7600 and 7800 GPUs in 2023, their first graphics cards based on AMD’s RDNA 2 and 3 architecture.
According to reviews, the Predator BiFrost GPUs generally fare well, offering competitive performance for their price points and having unique cooler designs to keep temperatures low. The overclocked models also offer extra performance compared with their reference cards.
What is the Intel® Arc™ GPU?
Intel’s Arc graphics card line was one of the most exciting developments when it first came out in 2022 in a GPU world long dominated by AMD and NVIDIA. Intel Arc refers to Intel's first series of discrete GPUs. Prior to this series, Intel only produced integrated graphics cards on their CPU dies. The first generation of Intel Arc GPUs is called Alchemist and includes the Arc™ A-Series of desktop and laptop GPUs, such as the Arc™ A770, which is what Acer’s first own-brand discrete GPU, the Predator BiFrost Intel® Arc™ A770, is based on. Intel Arc GPUs are aimed at both gamers and creators, with a focus on features like ray tracing, machine learning, and content creation acceleration. Early reviews of the Arc™ A770 found it to be competitive with entry-level GPUs from NVIDIA and AMD in terms of performance and value. The Intel Arc GPUs also come with dedicated drivers and software to improve how they perform.
What is the AMD Radeon™ RX GPU?
The AMD Radeon RX series is AMD’s mainstream consumer-level series of GPUs. The series is based on AMD’s Radeon™ DNA architecture. Current generations include the Radeon™ RX 6000 series (released in 2020) and the Radeon™ RX 7000 series (released in 2022). Radeon RX GPUs are used in both desktop and laptop graphics cards. Radeon RX GPUs target the mainstream/enthusiast market and aim to provide high performance for 1080p and 1440p gaming.
Predator BiFrost GPU series
Acer has given its own-branded GPU line a unique look: all cards in the series come in a dual-slot design measuring 10.5 inches × 4.6 inches. The top and bottom of the coolers are made of translucent plastic, and the top side hides the illuminated Predator logo on the left. A small “Intel Arc” or “Radeon” wordmark is situated on the right of the cards and accompanied by one or two 8-pin PCIe connectors, depending on the model. At the bottom of the cards, part of the cooling structure is exposed in a section that reveals some heatsink fins and copper heatpipes.
The coolers for all but the Predator BiFrost Radeon™ RX 7800 XT card have an unconventional fan layout: a mix of blower and axial fans that directs airflow in two separate directions. The axial fan features a ring structure connecting every individual fan blade, which helps with improving air pressure—useful for tighter heatsink fins to ram the air through narrow gaps. It’s worth noting that the section of the cards the axial fan occupies feature a cutout, so hot air simply gets pushed off to the back side of the cards. In the middle of the cards is a blower fan, something that most other GPU manufacturers have long moved on from due to their louder noise profile and relatively weaker cooling performance compared with axial fans.
All of the cards feature one HDMI 2.1 and three DisplayPort 1.4 outputs, and they can all be programmed using the Acer Predator BiFrost Utility app, which comes with everything you’d expect from a modern graphics card manufacturer. The app includes controls for adjusting RGB LED lights (for the Predator BiFrost Intel® Arc™ A770 OC card), fans, and clock speed.

Benefits of an Acer-branded GPU
Gamers and content creators may choose to purchase an Acer-branded GPU instead of the original version from AMD or Intel for a few reasons:
- Cooling and overclocking: Acer's models have enhanced cooling solutions, and some are factory overclocked, allowing for better performance out of the box compared with reference designs from AMD or Intel.
- Aesthetics: Acer GPUs have unique chassis designs and lighting effects that may appeal more to some users compared with the original GPU.
- Pricing: Acer has made their GPUs highly affordable and sometimes offers GPUs as part of bundle deals with other components, such as desktops, making a purchase of an Acer GPU often the best choice.
