Elden Ring, a game by FromSoftware, captivated gamers worldwide in 2022. It became one of the most awarded games in history, securing 324 Game of the Year awards, including the prestigious Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2022. The highly anticipated DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, has finally been released, and fans are diving into the new content with great enthusiasm.

Now that Shadow of the Erdtree is out, players can explore the new expansion and uncover its secrets. If you're looking to enhance your Elden Ring experience, check out these mods to spice up your gameplay.

1. Elden Ring - Unofficial Expansion (Season 1)

First on our list is the Elden Ring - Unofficial Expansion (Season 1) mod. The mod brings a richer and more diverse Elden Ring experience through an unofficial expansion that includes gameplay enhancements, new classes, and expanded content. It's designed for players seeking to explore beyond the original game's boundaries, offering new weapons, armors, and maps, along with a Bloodborne-inspired gameplay mechanic. The addition of new lore elements and merchant offerings further deepens the game's world, making it a compelling download for those wanting to refresh or intensify their adventure.

2. Berserker Armor and Dragon Slayer

The Berserker Armor and Dragon Slayer mod introduces two armor sets, the Berserker Set and Guts' Set, and the Dragon Slayer greatsword, inspired by Kentaro Miura's "Berserk." This mod allows players to roleplay in The Lands Between as Guts, the manga’s protagonist. To acquire these items, visit the Twin Maiden Husks shop in Roundtable Hold.

3. Pause the game

As the name suggests, the Pause the game mod adds a pause function to the game, a feature that is usually not available in most FromSoft games. It enables pausing anytime with customizable keys, improving gameplay convenience and accessibility. The mod requires Elden Mod Loader for setup and allows players to set their preferred pause keys for both keyboard and controllers, enhancing the gaming experience by providing control over game interruptions.

4. The Convergence

Similar to the Elden Ring - Unofficial Expansion, the Convergence mod offers a transformative experience that significantly expands upon the original game's world and mechanics. It introduces a myriad of enhancements, including interconnected areas, unique starting points for each of the 27 new classes, and a revamped fast travel system that diverges from the game's original progression system. This mod enriches Elden Ring's gameplay with a substantial increase in build options through new classes, equipment, spells, and a reimagined crafting system. Additionally, it alters progression by requiring players to defeat members from five groups of Remembrance bosses, making the game world more accessible and open from the outset.

Beyond gameplay alterations, The Convergence mod also focuses on enhancing player immersion with quality-of-life improvements such as separate save files for mod content, the ability to re-fight Remembrance bosses, and more detailed item descriptions. It revitalizes underused aspects of the original game, like the crafting system, by tying it more closely to Talismans and Flask of Wondrous Physick, and adjusts the balance of status effects and equipment. With its comprehensive changes and additions, The Convergence mod not only adds depth and replay value to Elden Ring but also encourages exploration and discovery, making each playthrough a unique and engaging experience.

5. Seamless Co-op

Elden Ring, like other FromSoftware games, includes a multiplayer mode that allows for cooperative play and random matchmaking. However, to maintain game balance, there are specific restrictions: co-op play is limited to certain areas, and players cannot use their mounts (horses) in multiplayer mode.

The Seamless co-op mod addresses these limitations by removing the restrictions imposed by the developers, enabling players to enjoy the entire game in co-op mode from start to finish with their friends. It allows for the use of horses in multiplayer, continuous boss battles without the session ending, and the ability to respawn after dying, enhancing the cooperative play experience. This mod operates outside of FromSoftware's official multiplayer servers, ensuring that players using it won't face invasions or bans.

6. Martial Arts Moveset

The Martial Arts Moveset mod updates the game to include a full martial arts combat system featuring animations from Sekiro. It adds a variety of new attacks, including 1-handing, 2-handing, sprinting, rolling, jumping attacks, and an ash of war, enhancing the melee combat experience.

The latest Shadow of the Erdtree trailer intrestingly features a player (Tarnished) utilizing hand-to-hand combat. This sneak peek suggests that martial arts movesets may be incorporated into the DLC. Instead of waiting for the DLC's release to embrace the role of a martial arts master, consider downloading this mod now to hone your skills early!

7. eden VOLITION - Graphics Mod (RTGI Support)

eden VOLITION - Graphics Mod (RTGI Support) significantly raises the game's visual aesthetics by altering its original color palette and integrating advanced lighting effects through RTGI, running on the SAI Framework. It aims to enhance the game's realism and vibrancy by removing the green tint, refining textures, and providing more natural lighting and shadows. Customizable settings and user-friendly installation are also available for the player to tinker around with.

8. Torrent Metal Gear Rising Blade Wolf

The Torrent Metal Gear Rising Blade Wolf mod replaces the game's default mount, Torrent, with the Blade Wolf from Metal Gear Rising, a spin-off from the Metal Gear Solid series by Hideo Kojima.

9. Fix the camera

Fix the camera modaddresses common complaints about the game's camera system by removing automatic recentering, which many players find annoying. It enhances the experience for keyboard and mouse users, with ongoing improvements for controller support. Additionally, it disables camera reset during unsuccessful lock-on attempts.

10. Goth Melina

Ever find yourself wanting a “goth companion” in Elden Ring? If so, the Goth Melina mod is perfect for you! It transforms Melina's appearance with a gothic makeover, including new hair color, lipstick, and black attire, aligning her looks more closely with her personality and actions in the game.

Bonus! Patches Consort of Miyazaki

Now that the game has been out for a while, tons of new and amazing mods have been added. However, the cream of the crop, and one of the funniest mods I have seen, has to be the Patches Consort of Miyazaki mod that replaces the final boss, Radahn, Consort of Miquella. The mod essentially replaces Radahn with Patches and Miquella with Miyazaki. Just like Miquella, who can grab and charm players in the base game, Miyazaki can also grab and charm players with promises such as, "The new game will be released next month, and there are still 22 Elden Ring DLCs to be done," or "Finally releasing Bloodborne for PC." This mod is purely a reskin and shouldn't change the boss fight, but to be honest, this boss is definitely more convincing than Miquella. If I can get a new Godwyn DLC, I wouldn't mind letting Miyazaki take over the world.
